Purpose

- Helps
VFC accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined
approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management,
control and governance. - Coordinate.
Monitor and facilitate compliance with existing laws, rules and
regulations of the institution´s Country.
Major
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Develops
and submits for approval to the institution Board Audit Committee (AC)
annual audit plan that outlines the activities to be undertaken by the
Internal Audit Department (IAD) during the year. - Submits
written audit reports to the Audit Committee before every scheduled Board
meeting Carries out the procedures outlined in the Internal Audit Plan
with the assistance of the Internal Auditors. - Supervises
and reviews the work of the Internal Auditors - Prepares
and assist in the execution of the external audits as well as examination
to be conducted by government regulatory agencies and other stakeholder /
raters - Ensures
implementation of issues raised by the external auditor´s management
letters - Ensures
institutional compliance with existing regulations - Ensure
compliance with established risk management framework, policies,
procedures, and controls, and consequently ensures compliance with
statutory and regulatory requirements
Education/Experience
- University
degree in accountancy or Business Administration with experience in
microfinance or banking - Membership
to a professional accountancy body or studying e.g. ACCA, CPA etc - Minimum
of 4 years audit experience in banking supervision or microfinance with at
least 2years demonstrated strong leadership experience in planning,
supervision and management of an internal audit department. - Excellent
command of written and spoken English (working knowledge of Kinyarwanda or
French will be an added advantage). - Understanding
or use in accounting package or Loan trucking software is added advantage - Special
/ Personal Abilities - Determined
personality with initiative and perseverance - Capability
and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of
rectitude - Excellent
knowledge of operational issues and proven ability to work with accuracy
and to perform correct and reliable analyses, as well as finance. - Should
have the skills and expertise to provide appropriate guidance and
direction to VFC on the development, implementation and maintenance of the
compliance program; - Proficient
in Microsoft office applications.
