The Millennium
Villages Project (MVP) has received funding from SSI/IIIV Global Fund (GF) for
supporting vulnerable people and those living with 111V/AIDS in Shyara, Mwogo,
Nyarugenge, Ruhuha, Mayange, Nyamata and Ntarama sectors in Bugesera District
and Gahanga sector in Kicukiro District. All implementation will be guided by
the MVP and OF will provide financial support on executing all planned
activities. The MVP is looking for suitable person to.fill the Vacant post of
Assistant to Accountant in this project.
Scope of
Work
The scope of work
for the Assistant to Accountant will be but not limited to:
General
Duties
Provide accounting,
secretarial, administrative assistance support to both benefiting cooperatives
and Project Officer. Emphasis will be on acting as liaison person between
financial system of the benefiting cooperatives and the MVP financial system.
Specific Tasks
- Assist
the Accountant in collecting accounting data from benefiting cooperatives
by ensuring that all provided data is supported by documents and is
accordance with accounting procedures; Initiate project payment processes
for suppliers of benefiting cooperatives by verifying the provided
information through matching the information on papers with that available
at the field (from benefiting cooperatives); - Assist
the Project Officer in implementation activities and making sure that all
needed information from cooperatives are well kept and available any time
needed; Capture data on project implementation and make sure it is kept in
a secure place and is accessible to only eligible people; - Support
benefiting cooperatives in preparing financial reports, bank and fund
reconciliation; - Supervise
an implementation of activities by benefiting cooperative through
providing technical support; - Assist
beneficiary cooperatives with regard to: reporting standards, proper
records, storage of goods/materials and correspondences between them and
other partners; and Performing any other duties assigned from time to
time.
Qualifications
and Experience
The required
qualifications and experience for the position are:
- Minimum
of two (2) years verifiable work experience in field work supporting
functions with good skills in administrative procedures; - A
bachelor degree in accounting, cooperative management, business
administration, economics, or development studies; - Computer
literacy preferable above intermediary level and fluency in English.
Knowledge of French would be added advantage; - Driver´s
license category his a must; - Demonstrated
ability on cooperative management with good communication and
interpersonal skills.
Contract
Duration
The contract for
this position shall run until June, 2013 subject to satisfactory performance
and availability of funds. The selected candidate will be subject to a
three-month (3) probation period.
