encouraged to apply. Position Title: IMB Mental Health Mixed Methods Research
Coordinator Reports to: IMB District Clinical Director, IMB Mental Health
Manager Location: Burera District, Rwanda The Mental Health Research
Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the mental health department to
carry out a quantitative and qualitative program evaluation, as well as any
routine monitoring and evaluation tasks and other research related tasks as
needed. Duties will include organization,
management and facilitation of the
program evaluation, including managing the study approvals and amendments,
coordination of the research schedule and database management, data collection,
data management, transcription, entry and cleaning, as well as some basic
quantitative and qualitative analysis. Data collection activities will include
but are not necessarily limited to: clinician administered quantitative scales,
semi-structured interviews with patients and nurses, and routine data
monitoring. The Research Coordinator must also be able to work independently
and manage research related responsibilities in collaboration with the IMB and
district mental health and medical team activities, including managing the
research budget for this program evaluation, and drafting progress and results
reports. S/he will also regularly need to independently and professionally
engage with clinical and leadership staff at health centers. The Research
Coordinator may be engaged with translation and back translation of documents,
interviews and other reports as needed between Kinyarwanda and English.
Requirements for the position:
with at least 1 year of clinical experience and 1 year of research or
monitoring and evaluation OR an A1 nurse with at least 1 year of clinical
experience AND 2 years research or monitoring and evaluation experience
interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact
comfortably and communicate effectively with members of clinical teams,
patients with mental disorders, families and community members
with principles of ethical conduct of research.
