Aegis Trust is an NGO whose aim is to prevent crimes
against humanity and manages Kigali Genocide Memorial. Besides managing the
memorial, Aegis Trust has several programmes including Education program, the
Genocide Archive of Rwanda, Social Enterprises and Social program. Aegis Trust

Job title: Higher Education Officer
Job Location: Kigali-Kiyovu Office
Reports to: Head of Higher Education and Research
General Description:
To design, deliver and evaluate Higher Education
courses and programmes run by Aegis Trust in conjunction with R

To build capacity in English Language in Aegis Staff and beneficiaries.
The role covers 4 sections, outlined below, and the individual must meet all of
the minimum criteria in each of the sections to be shortlisted for interviewing.
Key Responsibilities
Higher Education Programmes
- To design, manage and evaluate Higher Education
courses on genocide prevention and peace education in Rwanda and the
region. - To work with our academic partners in Rwanda and
abroad on course development and related activities. - To regularly report to Rwandan and international
donors and senior management in Rwanda and abroad. - To develop Higher Education programmes on
genocide prevention and peace education that are sustainable and income
generating. - To develop online Higher Education resources on
genocide prevention and peace education. - Regional and Global Expansion
- To develop existing collaborations with Higher
Education institutions in the region and globally. - To identify and develop new partnerships with
Higher Education institutions in the region and globally. - To design and manage needs analysis and training
workshops to be delivered in the region and globally.
Capacity Building and English Language
Support
Support
- To train Aegis Staff in English language, report
writing and formal writing in English. - To prepare Aegis Staff to take IELTS exams and
Cambridge University English Language exams. - To build English language abilities and the
employability of Aegis Trust beneficiaries. - To produce, edit and proofread documents in
English, as required. - UK Curriculum Development
- To identify means of including Peace Education in
the UK education curriculum. - To work with existing UK partner organisations on
implementing a Peace Education programme in the UK curriculum. - To develop partnerships with new partners in the
UK.
The following knowledge, skills and abilities are
required through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, and prior
experience or on the job training.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- Qualifications in Teaching English as a Second
Language - 6+ years of experience in Education field,
preferably in Higher Education - Experience in English language teaching including
IELTS and Cambridge exam preparation - Substantial experience in curriculum and course
development - Excellent knowledge of all areas of UK education
curriculum - Experience of working in Higher Education in the
East African region - Fluency in English
Desired Qualifications
- IELTS or Cambridge exam examiner status
- Experience of working in Higher Education in
Rwanda - Fluency in Kinyarwanda and Kiswahili
