Following
a major transition, our international programmes are now delivered through a
merged operation with c15,000 staff, managed through seven regional hubs and

length: 6 months, poistion based in Greece (with 80% travel throughout Balkans)

The
role

The
role holder shares the overall responsibility for the leadership, direction and
coordination of the program across the European Refugees and Migrants Crisis
response that Save the Children has launched in the Balkans, focusing on all
technical thematic areas.

As
a member of the subregional Roving Response Team (RRT) the role holder will
work closely with all country response teams providing technical support and
guidance throughout the development and implementation of the emergency
programme ensuring that a unified, coherent approach is being used across our
many countries of operation and that Save the Children is known and valued for
its signature programs across the region. He/she will also be responsible for
overseeing the development and resource mobilization of high quality,
innovative multi-country programs that deliver immediate and lasting change for
children on the move and monitor the quality of the implementation of those
programs.

Qualifications
and experience

Essential:
- Minimum
of 10 years’ experience in an NGO environment, including experience
directing and coordinating programs both emergency and development
contexts - Demonstrated
leadership and management skills in a complex international setting - Significant
experience leading strategic planning and in programme design and proposal
development - Experience
in more than one of the Save the Children priority sectors: education;
child protection; child rights governance; health and nutrition; food
security and livelihoods; - Strong
understanding of different methodologies of monitoring and evaluation and
operational research and experience in developing integrated MEAL systems - Ability
to effectively establish a learning culture within an organisation - Experience
in successfully establishing and managing collaborative relationships and
partnerships with donors, government counterparts and local NGOs - Strong
representation and influencing skills - Experience
of management of diverse workforce including effective performance
management and utilisation of capacity building, coaching, and mentoring
skills - Demonstrated
use of positive coping strategies in stressful environments - Commitment
to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles - Fluency
in written and spoken English - Ability
to work within the EU/Schengen zone - High
flexibility
Desirable
- Previous
experience and knowledge of Children on the Move programmes - Knowledge
of Save the Children systems and ways of working - Experience
or knowledge of working in domestic emergencies and/or in middle income
countries - Arabic,
Farsi, Greek, Croatian, Serbian or Macedonian language would be a plus
