Save the Children’s origins are in emergency response and it has remained central to our work ever since. Save the Children’s humanitarian team is a fast-paced and interesting work environment. Communications is a crucial part of what we do in emergency responses – it enables us to raise profile, raise funds and advocate for change – all of which enable us to do much more to help children affected by emergencies. In order to
communicate confidently and effectively with a wide range of different audiences, we need good information as well as inspirational materials.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain a deeper understanding of the role of communications in the humanitarian sector. It will enable you to gain an insight into how impactful communication drives change for children in emergencies through supporting fund and profile raising activities, and how this is enabled on the ground in an emergency. You’ll be part of the response team, and help with the provision of materials for fundraising, media and communications purposes to ensure Save the Children’s global emergency response is effectively presented internally and externally.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the internship is to support the Emergency Communications Team, within the Humanitarian Department of Save the Children in the day-to-day coordination and management of communication resources and activities relating to emergencies. This will involve working closely with colleagues in Media, Fundraising and Communications teams to ensure our work is well integrated and all communication needs relating to emergency responses are met.
