- Undertake
an extended research task to be agreed in consultation with the
Statelessness Section upon commencement of the internship; - Assist
with research relating to legal and policy papers on Statelessness; - Assist
with the preparation of the quarterly Campaign Update; - Assist
with research for the state-based “Friends of the Campaign” Group; and - Assist
with the day-to-day work of the Section (research on statelessness
situations, law, and policy, press reviews, arranging and distribution of
statelessness related materials etc.).

Eligibility: Education:
- Degree
in international law, international human rights law, international
relations or politics. - Academic
or practical experience relating to statelessness, nationality and human

months. To implement UNHCR’s global mandate on statelessness, the Statelessness
Section of the Division of International Protection (DIP) serves as the engine
driving the development of UNHCR policy on statelessness as well as training
and guidance tools on statelessness, at both operational and doctrinal levels.
The full-time staff of the Statelessness Section is comprised of one Senior
Legal Coordinator, one Senior Legal Officer, one Legal Officer, and two
full-time consultants. Work on statelessness at UNHCR is particularly busy and
interesting, entering the fourth year of UNHCR’s #IBELONG Campaign to End
Statelessness within 10 years.
