The aim of the Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society is to work for the preservation and conservation of the Stone Town Heritage, and to promote environmental and social welfare of its inhabitants by conducting public
talks, seminars and training and restoration workshops. Beside training and awareness, the Society is also engaged in advocacy, networking and research.
We are seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer with an interest and passion for conservation of heritage. Stone Town faces many challenges in restoring and preserving its historical architecture, and we need a person who will help us overcome these challenges!
The Chief Executive Officer’s key role would be:
• Manage the organisation in guidance with its constitution, objectives, strategic plan and policies
• Responsible for the administration, management of the Society
• Implementation of project activities
• Project / proposal write-ups, fundraising initiatives, and report writing
• Networking and advocacy in national, regional and international settings
Qualifications:
• Relevant Bachelor/Master Degree in administration, management, conservation, urban planning, or other relevant field of education
• Five to ten years experience in a management position( preferable in civil societies) added
• Excellent computer skills
• Fluency in either Kiswahili or English is a must, with a willingness to study the other language and reach a working level over time.
• The CEO would be chief accounting officer of the society
The applicant should have a genuine interest in conservation and preservation matters and committed to community work. Self-motivation, an analytical mind and organisational skills are a must.
The Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society is located on the waterfront of the ancient city of Stone Town, Zanzibar, an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. Stone Town is a dynamic, growing community and an exciting place to work at the forefront of conservation!
