Technical Specialist / Management and Leadership (MandL) Advisor and District Management Coach Lead Job Vacancy in Malawi

The
M&L Advisor/Management Coach Lead will be accountable for the technical
direction and implementation of the project’s M&L program and District
Level Management Strengthening activities. The M&L Advisor/Management Coach
Lead will report directly to the project’s Chief of Party and will have
management responsibility for one staff member and one local partner.
Key
Responsibilities:
Management
& Leadership Program –
Define
and/or refine the project’s M&L program, in partnership with the US-based
capacity building technical assistance Refine and/or develop new management and
leadership program materials for roll-out at the central and district levels,
in partnership with a local consultant and the US-based capacity building
technical assistance Lead and manage the implementation of innovative
programming for management and leadership strengthening at the central and
district levels, this includes providing one-on-one mentoring support to senior
and mid-level government employees, facilitating skills-building workshops,
conducting needs assessments (as needed), etc.
Build lasting in-country capacity for management strengthening activities by
engaging and working with local institutions to strengthen local management and
leadership pre-service education and in-service training opportunities
 
District Level Management Strengthening – 
Define
and shape the project’s District-level strengthening work, in partnership with
the US-based capacity building technical assistance Refine and/or develop-new
district level strengthening program materials for roll-out at the district
levels, in partnership with a local consultant and the US-based capacity
building technical assistance Assist with the identification and capacity
building of a local partner, who will lead the implementation of the district
level management coaching activities 
Provide strategic guidance and oversight
to the local partner responsible for implementation of the district level
strengthening work Cross-cutting responsibilities –
Document
and present program results and lessons learned for M&L and district level
management strengthening to the Chief of Party, USG, MoH, and other key
stakeholders Ensure M&L and district level strengthening program activities
are conducted in coordination with ongoing project and Government of Malawi
activities Coordinate and collaborate with project staff and partners in the
implementation of cross-cutting activities Other duties as assigned
Minimum
Qualifications:
10+
years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
Prerequisites:
Master’s
degree (PhD desirable) in management, public health, business administration or
a related professional degree; along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant
experience. Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and execute work assignments
in collaboration with a diverse team. Demonstrated ability to mentor senior and
mid-level stakeholders in management and leadership. Demonstrated ability to
engage and work with stakeholders at all system levels. Ability to multitask
and carry-out diverse types of office work, and manage varied deadlines.
Excellent writing, computer, management and organizational skills. Fluency in
English and Chichewa (official local language) required. Fluency in other local
language/s a plus. Previous work experience on a development project is
desirable, preferably with USAID.
