are currently seeking a long-term Youth & Gender Director for an upcoming
USAID-funded Agriculture Diversificatio
n for Incomes and Nutrition activity in
Malawi. The project will increase the competitiveness of high-value,
nutrient-rich value chains through support for agricultural enterprises and
increased access to markets and finance. The targeted value chains are
groundnut, soy, and orange-fleshed sweet potato. With domestic, regional, and
international demand for these value chains growing, there are opportunities
for smallholder farmers to diversify and increase their incomes, and for
agricultural small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to develop and grow. The
development of the targeted value chains also explicitly integrates nutrition
and is expected to improve nutritional outcomes for targeted populations
- Lead
all youth and gender activities under the project contract and will
closely collaborate with all other partners involved. - Advise
the program in developing strategies and plans to improve the economic
participation rate of youth and women and systemic changes within the
labor force. - Strengthen
service data/monitoring to ensure that youth and gender inequities are
tracked and appropriate response strategies are implemented;
organize/support regular monitoring among local districts, NGO/CBO
partners, and service providers; analyze and report on program and project
progress. - Ensure
that youth and gender program components are results-oriented. - Prepare
and conduct trainings on youth and gender topics for staff and
beneficiaries. - Collaborate
with other staff to ensure gender and youth are integrated properly
throughout the program areas and is in accordance with USAID?s youth and
gender strategy.
- A
university degree in sociology, gender studies, economics, agriculture
economics or a related field required - Five
(5) years or more of progressively responsible work experience
demonstrating experience conducting youth and gender analysis and gender
integration programming, including with on-the-ground participatory
approaches to research - Understanding
of USAID?s youth, gender, and value chain techniques and approaches - Experience
with USAID-funded projects preferred. - Strong
English language written and oral communication skills are required
