Palladium seeks a
Director of Finance and Administration for the five-year, USAID-funded Malawi
Ag Diversification for Incomes and Nutrition program. The Feed the Future
Malawi Ag Diversification for Incomes and Nutrition activity contributes to
USAID/Malawi’s Feed the Future goal of sustainably red
ucing poverty and
stunting in eight districts of Central and Southern Malawi. This activity
fosters inclusive and sustainable growth of Malawi’s agricultural sector and
improves the nutritional status of women and children under five through a
proven nutrition-sensitive approach of layering agriculture and nutrition
behavior change interventions in rural communities, while increasing the
competitiveness of high-value, nutrient-rich value chains through support for
agricultural enterprises and increased access to markets and finance. The
Director of Finance and Administration will be based in Malawi and will provide
advanced accounting and financial oversight to the program and finance staff in
the country office. Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Assisting and
supporting the Chief of Party in all accounting and financial reporting
activities, while providing support to the program team surrounding any and all
financial and administrative issues
· Ensuring the
accurate tracking and recording of project expenditures and financial reports
· Guiding and
assisting accountants and other program staff in preparing, revising and
monitoring budgets for ongoing activities
· Managing project
advances to staff and maintaining a strong internal control environment to
safeguard assets
· Reconciling and
reporting on all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and assisting
management in limiting financial risk
· Maintaining all HR
files, administer benefits and managing all human resources for the
Malawi-based program staff
· Ensuring proper
support and documentation exists to support program expenses and to support
both internal and external auditing processes
All other duties
deemed necessary, including support to the COP/DCOP as required
- Bachelor
degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
Master’s degree preferred - 8-10
years’ experience in accounting and finance functions - 3-5
years’ experience in a senior accounting role, including experience in
managing, reconciling and re-aligning budgets for large donor-funded
program, preferably for USAID funded projects - Demonstrated
experience managing staff - Knowledge
of local labor and tax laws and reporting procedures - Advanced
written and verbal communication skills in English - Advanced
knowledge of computers and MS Excel
