transboundary management of the Limpopo River Basin resulting in enhanced resiliency of people and ecosystems.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
• Provide leadership, management, and strategic direction to all project activities to ensure the efficient use of resources and achievement of results and project expectations.
• Supervise a team of technical experts.
• Coordinate and manage relationship with USAID to ensure project meets goals and objectives.
• Liaise with key stakeholders.
• Ensure effective planning, management and timely implementation of programs in collaboration with USAID, key stakeholders, and others.
• Provide regular status and progress reports to USAID and Abt Associates.
• Coordinate with the Headquarters to assure that all managerial and administrative matters are communicated and activities comply with the provisions of the contract and with USAID.
Required Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Natural Resources Management, Water Resources, or related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in managing complex projects in Natural Resource Management, preferably transboundary water management in the region.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience as chief of party on large, complex development projects.
• Fluency in English required.
• Demonstrated understanding and technical expertise in IWRM, River Basin Management, Capacity Building, Biodiversity, and Climate Change Adaptation.
• Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to productively engage a wide range and levels of organizations (government, private sector, NGOs, research institutions).
• Excellent understanding of USAID and USG regulations, administration, management, reporting procedures and systems.
