INTRODUCTION
The
Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD) Secretariat is currently
accepting applications from qualified individual(s) to provide volunteer or
pro-bono services towards the development of a policy framework for the Disability
Protocol for the Sothern Africa Development Community (SADC).
The
objective of the assignment – which may be offered individually or jointly as a
team of two, three or even five individuals – is to develop a policy framework
that will inform the development of the first ever SADC Disability Protocol.
The
policy framework should, among other things, clearly define the policy
objectives and the related strategies to achieving those objectives, as well as
define the stakeholder roles in the conceptualization, design, development,
implementation and evaluation of the new SADC Disability Protocol.
While
most of the work will initially be accomplished on the “desk
due unavailability of funds, but besides commissioning this assignment, the
role of SAFOD will be to mobilize resources with various financing partners to
help the prospective candidate(s) carry out engagements/consultation meetings
with other stakeholders to solicit their inputs.
