Ontario OUT OF
DOORS (OOD)
magazine
is currently seeking a Digital
Content Editor
to produce appealing angling, hunting, and
outdoor related editorial content for the OOD
brand, including www.oodmag.com and social
media, reporting to the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher. 

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Overall
    responsibility for the online editorial content of www.oodmag.com;
  • Assigning,
    editing and writing articles, including fact checking and posting content;
  • Social
    media monitoring, including comments on website and OOD forum,
    etc.;
  • Ensure
    consistency and accuracy in all online OOD
    content; 
  • Monitor,
    analyze and report on website analytics and visitor engagement;
  • Assist
    in developing and running editorial OOD
    contests and surveys;
  • Assist
    with conversion and optimization of print magazine to digital version; and
  • Creation
    and deployment of monthly e-newsletter.

Education
and Qualifications:

  • College
    or university education in journalism, communications, English, or
    equivalent work-related experience in relevant fields; and
  • Minimum
    of three to four years of experience as an intermediate level editor with
    an online magazine would be an asset.

Required
Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency
    with WordPress or similar content management system;
  • Basic
    knowledge of HTML;
  • Familiarity
    with Adobe suite of products (Acrobat Pro, Dreamweaver, Photoshop,
    InDesign);
  • Knowledge
    of social media best practices;
  • Excellent
    written and oral communication skills;
  • Interpersonal
    skills;
  • Problem
    solving skills; and
  • Time
    management and organizational skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid
    driver’s licence (Class G);
  • Valid
    passport;
  • Valid
    fishing licence;
  • Valid
    hunting licence;
  • Valid
    firearms licence; and
  • Valid
    pleasure craft operator’s card
