Arctic Chalet http://www.arcticchalet.com
Location:
Inuvik, Northwest Territories
The Arctic Chalet is
a beautifully landscaped eco-friendly, non-smoking tourist establishment
located in the Canadian Arctic on the outskirts of Inuvik, Northwest Territories. We provide beautiful cabin
accommodations and adventure tours above the Arctic circle.
We have an immediate
opening for two
healthy, PHYSICALLY FIT volunteers who are passionate about
dogs and would enjoy living and working with us in the north for a few months.
As we live in a
natural environment we would like to find staff who are interested in spending
their free time out in nature, not in town. We require staff members to be
clean, neat and tidy in appearance, non-smoking/drinking and drug-free with no
visible tattoos, body piercings or radical hair stiles.
Our volunteers must
be good team players, have a friendly personality and radiate a positive
attitude. They must also be flexible with work and schedules.
We run a split
schedule between yard work and working at the dog kennels with our beautiful
White Huskies. Some experience with tools and machinery would be an asset. A
valid Canadian work permit is required.
Yard duties include
washing vehicles, hauling water, helping with renovation projects, maintaining
trails and other misc. jobs. A driver’s licence is required.
Kennel duties
include feeding, watering, cleaning and grooming the dogs. Staff will also help
exercise and train the dogs for our winter dogsledding tours. The experience to
be gained here working with our huskies is amazing!
We will provide free
housing and utilities. Staff members cook for themselves in a shared staff kitchen.
A salary of $1000 per month (gross pay) will be given to cover food and other
expenses. Also included is the use of our laundry facility, access to a limited
amount of wireless internet and we will provide transportation to and from town
centre (3 km) for shopping once a week or as we can coordinate with other
trips.
Staff will have the
opportunity to participate in some of our adventure tours and possibly travel
to other Arctic communities. We will give you the best possible northern
experience during the brief time that you are here!
If you have a
passion for animals and can relate well to them, love nature and being outside,
and are not afraid of hard work this opportunity may be perfect for you!
