ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Ocean Wise Manager, the Coordinator, Ocean Wise will help to
grow and strengthen the Oce

an Wise program in Ontario and Eastern Canada by
focusing on actively seeking out and recruiting new foodservice partnership
opportunities. This role will also include leading the planning and execution
of Ocean Wise events and outreach opportunities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Expanding the Ocean Wise Program though growing the partner base in Eastern
Canada:
• Researching and identifying potential new partner locations in Ontario,
Quebec & Eastern Canada based on their compatibility with the Ocean Wise
program and sign on new partners to the program by setting up meetings and
following up with leads;
• Developing local sustainable seafood awareness program for the Eastern market
and connect local restaurants with the local supply of seafood;
• Representing Ocean Wise at trade shows and events where concept of
sustainable seafood and the Ocean Wise partnership program is discussed and
promoted;
• Building relationships with key Ocean Wise supply partners and their outside
sales teams to generate new lead potential.

Expanding the profile of the Ocean Wise Program though the coordination and
successful execution of events by:
• Identifying industry and consumer event opportunities relevant to Ocean Wise’s
outreach goals and objectives;
• Working with relevant local non-profit groups and companies to co-host events
and opportunities that will maximize Ocean Wise’s reach in identified markets;
• Leading the planning and implementation of local logistics for signature
events;
• Representing Ocean Wise at various networking, community and partner events;
• Promoting Ocean Wise program membership through effectively engaging the
public at events and trade shows;
• Assisting in planning Ocean Wise hosted events and outreach opportunities.

Provide support to the Ocean Wise team and Ocean Wise partners:
• Managing and maintaining partner database for Eastern Partners , ensuring
records are accurate and current;
• Assisting with document creation, report writing, contact management,
presentations and support material, as required for day-to-day operation of the
Ocean Wise program;
• Coordinating the delivery of invoices and collection of payments from fees;
• Running partner training sessions and yearly reviews to identify needs and
increase partnership value;
• Managing and maintaining relationships with active partner accounts.

Oversee the management of Ocean Wise volunteers by:
• Recruiting and training team of volunteers for Toronto and surrounding
market;
• Ensuring volunteers have relevant incentives and hours are tracked;
• Organizing annual volunteer recognition party;
• Scheduling volunteers for appropriate event and outreach opportunities.

Consciously desires to improve the Vancouver Aquarium and its processes by:
• Keeping up to date on the latest trends and science in fisheries and seafood;
• Continually improving our impact on the environment and greening of
operations as an active participant in the Aquarium’s Environmental Management
Systems Program (ie GCSC);
• Liaising with Vancouver Aquarium departments, business partners and
affiliates to ensure positive working relationships;
• Performing related duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations,
Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent diploma/certificate;
• Outside Sales experience preferably within the foodservice industry;
• Experience organizing events, both small and large;
• Experience in and understanding of restaurant and hospitality industry,
ideally in the GTA;
• Interest in food scene trends & passionate about ocean conservation and
sustainable seafood;
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License;
• Good understanding of sustainable food movement and specifically sustainable
seafood;
• Some knowledge of the seafood industry and/or food service in applicable
market is an asset.

• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and participants;
• Ability to create and maintain strong business relationships;
• Strong social skills, approachable and professional communication skills;
• Strong Public Speaking skills;
• Confident telephone manner and outstanding customer service;
• Good level of understanding and strong interest in ocean conservation;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also in a team
environment;
• Ability to multi-task with keen attention to detail;
• Good working knowledge of social media including Twitter, Facebook and
Instagram;Active demonstration of the organization’s values, code of conduct,
and mission;
• Bilingual speaker preferred (English and French).

Working Conditions
• Open concept office space;
• Job will require the ability to safely bend, lift and move light objects (up
to 15lbs) and occasional safe use of low ladders;
• Must be able to work comfortably in a fast paced environment;
• Job constantly involves listening and reacting to requests for information;
• Flexibility and availability in schedule are required during the week,
including working weekends, and holidays.
