facilitator to lead the development and facilitation of our new Urban
Agriculture Employment Program.

Our Approach:
At first glance, Roots to Harvest may appear to be an urban agriculture focused
organization, but we encourage applicants to look much deeper than that. Roots
to Harvest is first and foremost about working with people—in particular, youth
and young adults. Looking to the margins of society, we seek to create

Roots to Harvest is a small, grassroots organization that is still maturing and
coming into its own. We are a small staff and every position involves elements
of organizational development and maintenance. We aim to foster a culture that

Your Responsibilities:
The Program Facilitator Lead will be leading the development, implementation
and facilitation, from the ground up, of an innovative urban agriculture
training/employment program for young adults from Northern and First Nations
communities. Responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with partner organizations and stakeholders to develop program
goals and terms of references;
• Developing program outlines and materials;
• Recruiting candidates for program participants;
• Facilitating young adults in the day to day of the program;
• Working with partners and funders for program evaluation;
• Seeking additional funding streams;
• Community outreach with neighbours;
• Participating in Roots to Harvest organizational work.
Your Fit:
• You love working with people. You are comfortable in a boardroom, a
classroom, a community kitchen and a farmer’s field, and are able to appreciate
individuals for their diversity and uniqueness.
• You are a jack-of-all trades. You can fix a hose, change a tire, follow a
recipe, write a grant, and make a presentation. (And you can figure out how to
do the other things you don’t know yet, quickly.)
• You communicate clearly. You write well and speak eloquently. You appreciate
nuanced language that is inspirational and honest.
• You love a challenge. Working hard feeds you and you find innovative and
effective ways to solve problems and make progress.

history, culture, and goals of Indigenous communities in Canada.
