Free The
Children
is seeking an Android
App Developer Consultant to join our dynamic and
highly-motivated team. In this position you will have the opportunity to build,
maintain and enhance the capabilities of our We365 mobile application. You will
work collaboratively with a team of developers, designers and product managers
to develop and implement new features on our Android platform.
There is a three (3)
month probationary period, upon reaching the three (3) month period, all staff
members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistance
Program. The position is based out of Free the Children’s office in Toronto
(233 Carlton Street).

Responsibilities:
- Develop
technical solutions using native Android SDKs - Analyze
and recommend the most appropriate technical solutions to meet business
objectives while maintaining integrity of code base and functionality - Assist
the Team Lead with time estimates and achieving project timelines - Perform
hands-on development for particularly challenging code segments - Creatively
debug and troubleshoot issues raised by QA - Collaboratively
work with our mobile designers and implement designs with utmost attention
to detail - Document
source code
Desired
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated
experience with coding technologies including HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS,
Javascript, Angular-J - An
undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate - Experience
with Android platform development patterns, frameworks, and APIs - Two
plus (2+) years experience in mobile application development - Fundamentals
in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complex
problem solving - Strong
proficiency in Java - Experience
in efficiently consuming web services APIs using SOAP, XML, and JSON - Experience
building complex Android apps that have been successfully delivered to
customers - Exceptional
analytical aptitude and attention to detail - Good organizational
and problem solving skills - Experience
with RESTful API’s, SVN or Git and MVC - Strong
oral and written communication skills - Excellent
OO programming skills - Proficient
debugging and optimization skills - Experience
with development on other mobile platforms is an asset
