Job
Description:

1.
Establishment of Internal GIS (Graphic Information Systems) Capability

acquiring
the appropriate GIS Shaped file as provided through our licence with
Teranet and data sharing agreement
installation
of ArcGIS or comparable as required
research
any no-cost options for acquiring private ownership details / establish a
protocol for acquiring such information
organize
volunteers to collect private ownership through City Hall tax rolls or
self-identified owners
definition
of potential and limitations of using cell phones or dedicated GPS
equipment to translate property lines in GPS into locations out in the
field
collection
of historic place names of water courses and waterways

2. Development
of a GIS system for SCW Monthly Stewardship Program

migration
of Monthly Stewardship routes from Google Earth to GIS System
redefinition
of Stewardship Routes into 2 dimensional areas with colour coding for
season considerations
development
of capacity to have photos pinned within the system
training
of staff and key volunteers in the use of the system
consideration
of web-based access to the system for all monthly stewards
definition
of additional Stewardship routes in Cootes and Red Hill Watersheds

3.
Development of a GIS for documenting Group Cleanups

utilizing
dimensional tools to define each cleanup by length of shoreline and area
cleaned up
historical
documentation of location and extent of cleanups to date
colour
coding of the watershed according as to the progress of cleanups to date
and monthly stewardship status
graphic
showing that part of the entire watershed which is the area of interest
for SCW
segmentation
of Red Hill Watershed into collection areas so as to provide an empirical
basis for the effectiveness of our work over time.

division of the neighbourhoods in our community by sewer outfalls will
allow people to better understand the effects their lot management
