enhance environmental and human health in the Forest City through the benefits
of trees.

We are seeking an outgoing and detail-oriented summer student to lead and plan
outreach events in the community. This is a 16 week, full-time position
beginning May 1st,
2017
, through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Summary:

The Community Engagement Assistant will work with the ReForest London team, and
report to the Community Engagement Coordinator to plan and deliver outreach
events such as community booths, seedling giveaways and some tree planting
events.

We are seeking a person with strong communication and organizational skills,
with experience planning events, as well as volunteer recruitment and
management.

Qualifications:

This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. Candidate must be starting or returning
to college or university in the fall, between the ages of 15 and 30 years of
age, and legally eligible to work in Canada.

Experience:
• Knowledge and experience with event planning (required).
• Experience and knowledge of volunteer engagement and management (preferred).
• Experience with Marketing and/or Social Media (an asset).
• Experience working or volunteering in a non-profit organization (preferred).

Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong computer skills required, specifically with databases, Excel, and
other data manipulation tools
• Strong organizational skills with ability to plan, execute, and evaluate
events
• Flexible, skilled in working on multiple projects at a time
• Excellent time management skills

Other requirements:
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle
• Flexibility in working hours to include some evenings and weekends

Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver seedling giveaways at community events in spring months
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment for outreach events.
• Assist with Celebration Forest planting event in May.
• Lead volunteer training events in spring and summer months.
• Assist with Volunteer Recognition Event and Annual General Meeting in June.
• Maintain the database to track and communicate with volunteers.
• Communicate with volunteers regularly via phone, email and in-person.
• Recruit both individual and group volunteers for new activities.

Remuneration:

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position, lasting for 16 weeks during
the summer, with anticipated start date of May 1st, 2017. Pay is $11.50/hour.

Please note: this position, including the start date and duration of employment
is dependent upon funding. Proposed start date is May 1st. Interviews will
