Evergreen Site Animator Job Vacancy in Ontario, Canada

Overview: This role is responsible for delivering inspiring and educational
programs to visitors at Evergreen Brick Works, encompassing a range of
nature-based themes in alignment with Evergreen’s priorities. The successful
candidate will support public festivals, events, site-wide activations, weekly
drop ins, visiting school programs, camps, tours and other on-site programs.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging public and private educational programs, primarily outdoor
nature-based activities for children and families;
• Work with individuals of different ages, cultures, backgrounds, and
abilities;
• Ensure safe delivery of programs according to Evergreen policies, procedures
and training;
• Provide a welcoming experience for the general public and clients and act as
an ambassador for Evergreen Brick Works;
• Share knowledge of local food systems and/or urban agriculture/food growing
and cooking outdoors over an open fire;
• Demonstrate safe use of simple hand tools and the ability to craft with
natural materials including wood and clay, or willingness to learn;
• Model leadership, team work, and a contagious curiosity about the natural
world;
• Supervise and engage Evergreen volunteers

Reporting Relationships:
• Supervised by:Program Manager, Outdoor Education
• Supervises: Volunteers and Interns

Qualifications:
• 1-3 years proven track record engaging diverse members of the public,
particularly children and youth, in outdoor educational and recreational
activities
• Current standard first aid & CPR training, or willingness to obtain
• Vulnerable sector police reference check, or willingness to obtain

Assets:
• Experience with Nature Connection Routines and Outdoor Experiential Education
• Background in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Education, Arts or similar
• Knowledge of Stewardship and Ecological Restoration practices

Working conditions:
• Working primarily outdoors with a diversity or people in an inclusive
environment
• Able to endure rain and other inclement weather conditions
• Available to work a flexible schedule including shifts on weekdays, week
nights and/or weekends
• Shifts of 4-8 hours per week

Physical requirements:
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Lifting heavy objects on a regular basis
