EQWIP HUBS is a project
consortium partnership implemented by two international youth development
organizations Canada World Youth/Jeunesse Canada Monde (CWY) and Youth
Challenge International (YCI), and TakingITGlobal (TIG), Education Development
Center (ED
C) and UN-HABITAT.
Initiative Description:
The project is currently
receiving applications for a Livelihood and Innovation Lead for EQWIP HUBS:
Powering Youth Innovation for Sustainable Livelihoods, which will be
implemented across six countries. The ultimate goal is to improve the economic
and social well-being of poor and marginalized communities in developing
countries.
Position Description:
The Livelihood & Innovation
Lead will be responsible for the overall management of the project’s youth
livelihood activities, including support for core training curriculum
development and local adaptation, guidance in the development of tertiary
training, and exploring opportunities for innovation. S/he will ensure that
project outcomes are being achieved and that youth-related activities are
meeting the expressed needs of local youth.
S/he coordinates and provides
oversight, technical support and guidance to livelihoods staff in country. S/he
proactively seeks out new appropriate livelihood programming and approaches,
including those being implemented by the private sector and development actors
and determines how best to adapt and/or integrate these into current
programming. S/he will establish and maintain positive, collaborative and
productive relationships with EQWIP staff and implementing partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership in livelihood and innovation
activities - Support the capacity building of implementing partners
through institutional assessment, technical assistance, training and
coaching - Liaise with EDC to develop and adapt employment and
entrepreneurship curriculum for young people - Ensure livelihood outcomes and activities are aligned
with donor requirements - Facilitate the regular sharing of livelihood and
innovation related knowledge and information among stakeholders utilizing
a variety of platforms - Proactively seek new opportunities for effective
partnership building and resource mobilization amongst private sector,
NGOs, development actors and donors - Ensure quality and consistency of curriculum
implementation - Research trends in livelihood programming and
methodologies - Explore, consult, design and implement opportunities for
innovating within the EQWIP Hub Project - Promote and support the development of the Hub Network
in each country – a network of diverse actors with a common interest in
supporting youth to access a sustainable livelihood
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-10 years experience in livelihood programming
- A passion and interest in developing, supporting and
improving youth focused programming - Familiarity with current trends in youth livelihoods
development - Enthusiasm for innovating and finding new or improved
ways of working - Ability to manage competing priorities, work with
deadlines and attend to projects and work processes - Energetic and collaborative spirit, with the ability to
work independently and take initiative, and a willingness to develop new
skills on the job - Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to
detail - International experience preferably with a focus on
young people - A successful track record in supervising, designing,
managing and implementing technical assistance for donor-funded projects - Proven ability to develop, implement and monitor work
plans and training plans - Availability to travel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- English fluency required, French/Spanish language skills
are highly desirable
