The
Design and Development Manager (DDM) is an integral part of the Grants
Acquisition Management (GAM) team and will provide key support to the
department in growing and diversifying revenue streams through the Canadian
Government, Multilateral Institutions, Corporates, International Foundations
and Foreign Governments.
Design and Development Manager (DDM) is an integral part of the Grants
Acquisition Management (GAM) team and will provide key support to the
department in growing and diversifying revenue streams through the Canadian
Government, Multilateral Institutions, Corporates, International Foundations
and Foreign Governments.
In
reporting to the Team Lead – Management and Compliance, the DDM is responsible
to manage the overall acquisition process through the following functions:

- Manage
preparation of project proposals for submission ensuring timely
submission, managing all components of the process - Coordinate
proposal development teams, ensure support and engagement of internal and
external stakeholders as needed. This includes developing and managing
proposal development plans which outline specific activities required of
each team member and corresponding deadlines - Lead
proposal development workshops as needed and convene appropriate
stakeholders to strategize and develop the project design - As
the in house expert on institutional policies and procedures related to
key donors and clients, the DDM reviews proposal submissions to ensure
compliance with donor regulations and organizational guidelines - Post-submission,
the DDM will follow-up with donor(s) and partner(s) as necessary and
respond to any requests for additional information. Note: Depending on the
scope and complexity of the grant portfolio, the DDM may be required to
assume grant management responsibilities. - Engage
with internal and external stakeholders to provide innovative solutions to
development problems through the creation of new and scalable ideas, approaches,
methodologies and tools in alignment with RAM priorities - Collaborate
with regional offices to build the capacity of field level resource
acquisition personnel - Engage
with other business units (i.e. Policy and Advocacy, Government Relations,
International Programs, Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs and others) to
ensure alignment and realization of coordinated Resource Acquisition

- BA
in International Development or related; Master’s Level Degree preferred - 5
years of experience in designing successful proposals and managing
Proposal Development Teams to ensure timely, high quality inputs from all
team members - Skills
and experience in grant management - Thorough
understanding of donor requirements, guidelines and priorities (Global
Affairs Canada, European Union, and some knowledge of Multilateral
Institutions an asset) - Excellent
ability to work cross-organizationally with multiple stakeholders to
ensure alignment and realization of strategic objectives - Skills
in cross-cultural communication and experience working with remote teams - Identifies
and analyzes situations and/or issues related to the acquisition process,
considers options, develops solutions, recommends and monitors appropriate
solutions - An
expectation of international travel of approximately 2-4 trips per year,
so as to ensure realization of high quality outputs from each of the
specific accountabilities
