Specific
Job Responsibilities:
|
- Coordination
of the FFS project activities in the concerned District,
- Support
the formulation of the annual work plan and budget for the activities of
the project.
- Coordinate
with other project Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) and
Nutritionist officers at district level on identification, development
and adaptation of the curriculum, trainings, communication, and M &
E tools and materials.
- Supervise
and contribute to the FFS training activities in the project area (ToT,
ToF, Refresher trainings) and organize farmer exchange visits.
- Lead
in the adaptation and inclusion of the module on livestock production
and management for the FFS.
- Coordinate
demonstrations on conservation agriculture, in the project area
- Coordinate
the activities related to post-harvest handling and improved storage and
facilitating trainings on marketing and business planning.
- Foster
the active participation of women in ToF and FFS groups.
- Support
and provide in-service training of the District FFS Training Team in
organizing ToFs (methodology and content) and provide support for FFLS
Implementation through provision of fertilizer, mushrooms, seeds and
other requirements for kitchen garden support at village level,
- Ensure
that training materials are timely available (locally produced or
through national level).
- Liaise
with District and local leaders on participation of their staff in FFS
training courses and implementation of FFS methodology in the community.
Provide advice on follow-up activities of graduated FFS and FFS network
and curriculum.
- Understanding
the Steps in conducting FFS in Rwanda, characteristics of
the farmer field school approach and methodology, Key concepts and
techniques used in FFS and have knowledge of case studies on successful
FFs in the region
- Supervise
and assist the District Officers in FFS follow-up (FFS graduate group)
related activities to FFS methodology.
- Conduct
regular monitoring and support visits to the project area to ensure
maximum impact of the interventions.
- Participate
in the establishment of mechanisms to collect appropriate information of
the monitoring and evaluation system of activities of the project,
including designing and using M&E tools for the effective data
tracking and reporting system
- Participate
in the institutional learning initiatives; provide technical leadership
and coordination to ensure establishment of efficient information
systems and timely dissemination of information.
- Strengthen
the monitoring and evaluation activities via training/ capacity building
activities.
- Prepare
reports and other documents as required and submit them timely.
- Undertake
any other related duties arising within the context of the project

Qualifications
and experience:
|
- University
degree in Agronomy, natural resources, Rural or community development
- At
least 3 years work experience, particularly in the field of
participatory approaches (FFS), methodology development, facilitation
and implementation.
- General
background in agricultural production (tropical crops including
horticulture).
- Excellent
communication skills, both oral and written English and
Kinyarwanda with Knowledge of French being a definite advantage
- Strong
reporting skills in both program level reporting and financial
reporting.
- Ability
to work with Ms. Excel and pivot table, Ms. Word and SPSS.
- Ability
to create and encourage a climate of team-working and collaboration in a
multi-cultural environment,
- Ability
to consistently achieve high-level results, managing and delivering
projects on-time and on-budget,
- Previous
working experience with NGOs with community focus will be
considered an advantage
