Purpose:
Under
the direct supervision of the Head of sub office, the Programme Assistant will
be responsible for the following duties.
Major
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and monitor the
implementation of WFP assistance Programme at the local level, in close
collaboration with the implementing partners and the Sub Office in Tamale; - Monitor and review the overall
commodity movements such as food deliveries, storage, transport and
distribution at the site and verify if the amounts received have been
properly recorded; - Supervise distributions of food
items at the distribution site and ensure proper distribution of
entitlements is adhere to and provide feedback of the country/sub/field
officers; - Assist in the conduct of
regular meetings of implementing partners on the commodity pipeline, distribution
arrangement, food entitlements and other relevant issues; - Assist in the implementation of
the action plan, review achievements and constraints and provide
appropriate and timely feedbacks to the Sub/Country Office; - Identify partnership for WFP on-going
projects/activities in the region; - Report periodically to WFP
Sub/Country Office on relevant issues regarding food movements, food
distributions and reporting; - Supervise and train other
personnel as appropriate; - Monitor and ongoing projects in
the field; - Prepare periodic reports,
statistical information and tables; - Assist in conducting training
of field staff on commodity management, as necessary; - Maintain accurate records and
files within the field of work of the Field Office; - Perform other related duties as
required
Required
Skills or Experience
Knowledge,
Skills and Experience:
- Secondary school education,
supplemented by courses in a field related to WFP programmatic activities - At least three years of
progressively responsible support experience including at least one year
in the field of statistics, accounting, transport, insurance, statistics,
operations or other related field. At least one year at the G4 level or
equivalent - Excellent knowledge of computer
Language: Fluency in
both written and oral English
