Background / General description
The WBG Strategic Business Intelligence (BI) Program, recently sanctioned by the WBG CIO as a key priority, aims to enhance the Group’s capabilities at the enterprise level in the areas of information access, reporting and analytics across its five organizations (IBRD, IDA, IFC, MIGA, ICSID ). Its main objective is to provide management and staff with deeper insight into information for Group-wide decision making, and an improved 360 degree view of underlying data across business areas. Current information systems are largely geared towards supporting each individual organization, with limited ability to access, report or analyze information at the Group level. To support the operations of the BI Program, the project team is seeking to engage with experienced Oracle/Java Developer to provide production support to the BI Platform, including the: Business Warehouse, ODS/MDM (Oracle Database), and Informatica ETL loads Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 4 year renewable term appointment.
Duties and Accountabilities
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
• Monitor all data loading activities to MDM Oracle Instance using Informatica.
• Monitor all data loading activities to or from BW using either Informatica and/or SAP extractors.
• Monitor BW system at a high level for performance, space and availability.
• Troubleshoot loading issues and correct or coordinate the correction with appropriate team.
• Restart failed loads after correction.
• Provide Daily Load reports with load status and any issues encountered.
• Provide regular review of load processes and provide recommendations for process improvement.
• Provide and file daily/monthly data validation reports on loads (to include ICFR requirements for validation).
• Review and provide answers and/or recommendations for development on Remedy tickets from users – Remedy issues can include data errors or questions, data load questions, development requests. Coverage windows
• Daily load window is 11:00PM – 9:00AM EST 7 days a week (excluding 1 or 2 Friday nights/month during system copies and maintenance)
• Monthly load window includes 3rd business day of each month 9:00AM – 11:00PM EST (during July it is on the 1st and 2nd calendar day)
• Adhoc load window is Monday – Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM EST (excluding WB holidays)
• Remedy support is Monday through Friday 11:00PM – 9:00AM for non-critical issues and Monday – Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM EST for critical issues Critical Success Factors:
• Strong Knowledge on Java, Java Script
• Oracle Experience
• Expertise in Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages, and Triggers
Selection Criteria
Minimum Education: MA/MS(In computer science or related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BS/BA is minimum education requirement)
• Expert Java coding and debugging skills (JSR-168, JSR-286).
• Strong knowledge of JSP, JavaScript, HTML, XHTML, CSS, AJAX.
• Experience with User Experience/Usability for software design or websites (Graphical Design Skills, Focused on ease of use, Understands the end-user’s behavior, Designs efficient interfaces).
• Enhance the existing portlets to provide Inter-portlet communication.
• 3+ years experience in Oracle 11 Database (monitoring and/or data analysis for troubleshooting loads and Remedy issues) required.
• Expertise in Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages, and Triggers; extensively used Cursors, REF cursors, User-defined object types, Records, and Tables in PL/SQL programming.
• Expertise in performance tuning of applications and analyzing complex SAL statements using explain plan and tkprof.
• Experience in Informatica 9.01 is a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and technical skills.
