Job Title: Recommend crowdsourcing platforms
Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET)
TASK
An online volunteer is sought to evaluate and recommend crowdsourcing platforms for use in WOUGNET projects. Duties:
1) Review and compile report on crowdsourcing applications appropriate for use by WOUGNET
2) Recommend at most three options for including costs of using the applications, level of difficulty to use, etc.
3) Set up agreed crowdsourcing platform(s) for use in WOUGNET activities
4) Develop user manual and technical manual to support WOUGNET make effective use of the platform(s)
In conduct of this task, the online volunteer will liaise with the Technical Support Program.
Requirements for this task:
1) Weekly time commitment: An average of 10 hours a week.
2) Consistent, daily access to the internet.
3) Technical expertise in crowdsourcing platforms
The expected duration of this assignment is three months. Expected launch of the platform is January 2012.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) is a legally registered NGO initiated in May 2000 by several women’s organizations in Uganda to develop the use of ICTs among women as tools to share information and address issues collectively.
WOUGNET’s vision is a society in which women are empowered through the use of ICTs for sustainable development. It is also important that we can poll, highlight and/or showcase issues of interest to our membership.
OBJECTIVE
The WOUGNET platform facilitates information exchange on human rights, health, agriculture, entrepreneurship, democracy and other areas that promote development of women in Uganda. The crowdsourcing platform(s) are a tool we intend to use to facilitate information access and sharing. We also intend to use the platform for lobbying and advocacy on issues of gender and of ICT for development.
WOUGNET intends to make use of crowdsourcing with input from mobile phones, email, web, etc.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience in review and development of crowdsourcing platforms. Some of the platforms WOUGNET is already aware of include
Ushahidi, TRAC FM, Huduma, etc. We have not made a technical assessment of these platforms.
Writing and editing skills are desirable due to the need to develop user and technical manuals for use by WOUGNET
