Overview:
The
Urugo Women’s Opportunity Center is a multi-purpose community center in the
heart of Kayonza, which promotes the social and economic empowerment of women
in Rwanda. The Center

offers education and rights training, job-skills
training, and economic and employment opportunities for women and the community
at-large. With the goal of achieving self-sustainability, the Center also
operates revenue-generating activities to finance its educational and training
work, such as lodging facilities, restaurant and bar, coffee shop, handicraft
gift shop, market stalls, food production unit, and rental of space for
meetings and events.

Purpose:
The
Urugo Women’s Opportunity Center is looking for a qualifiedHospitality and
Sales Manager to help build up our business activities. This is a hands-on
hospitality management role which requires someone to have full responsibility
to maintain high standards of excellence at the Center. He or she will
ensurethe day-to-day operations of all revenue-generating businesses at the
Center, including supervision of staff, as well as sales and marketing
activities to increase the client base and revenue. This position reports to
the General Managerof UrugoWOC.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure
    the smooth running of all revenue-generating businesses at the Center,
    including the eco-lodge, restaurant and bar, coffee shop, gift shop,
    market stalls, food production unit, and rental of space for meetings
    & events.
  • Manage
    the on-line bookings and customer correspondence;
  • Ensure
    the highest levels of quality and customer service are being delivered at
    the Center;
  • Work
    closely with the General Manager on marketing, advertising and public
    relations initiatives to promote the Center, increase the client base and
    maximize revenue generation;
  • Build
    networks and linkages with other businesses in the hospitality and tourism
    industry;
  • Manageexisting
    vendor relationships;
  • Build
    an expanded client and retail base for products to be sold throughout
    Kayonza district and beyond;
  • Promote
    the center as a location for hosting meetings, conferences and events,
    thereby increasing revenue;
  • Manage
    and monitor staff performance, providing coaching and mentoring as needed;
  • Plan
    daily and weekly work schedules for individuals and teams;
  • Ensure
    compliance with licensing laws, health, hygiene and safety regulations and
    other statutory requirements;
  • Createinnovative
    and cost-effective ways to develop the site and expand activities and
    services offered within the Center with the objective of increasing
    profitability;
  • Participate
    along with other senior managers in the annual business planning and
    budgeting of the Center.
Required
Qualifications:
  • University
    degree in Marketing, Sales, Hospitality, or equivalent;
  • Minimum
    of 7 years’ work experience inthe hospitality industry; preferably in
    hotels or restaurants;
  • At
    least 3 years in a managerial level position, with personnel management
    experience;
  • Demonstratedsales
    and marketing abilities;
  • Excellent
    communication skills;
  • Ability
    to motivate the team to perform at the highest level of detail;
  • Fluency
    in English and Kinyarwanda is required (both verbal and written);
  • Excellent
    computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Excellent
    organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
