Context:
VSO Rwanda is international NGO working
in development and has been operating in Rwanda since 1998. VSO works in
partnership with government and local organisations to build capacity for
people’s participation, quality delivery and access to services mainly in
education, social inclusion, governance (with a focus on disability focus) and
secure livelihoods using international and national volunteers. Gender, special

VSO Rwanda is implementing INSPIRED
project ‘Inclusive Services through Participation of Stakeholders for Realising
Rights in Education and Disability’ (INSPIRED) in 8 district (Rusizi,
Nyaruguru, Musanze, Rubavu, Nyagatare, Ngororero, Gicumbi and Rwamagana). The
project is implemented in partnership with the National Council of Persons with
Disabilities (NCPD), Rwanda Education Board (REB) and Districts. It is funded
by the UK government through the Department for International Development
(DfID).

resource centres as a component that builds teachers capabilities to develop
teaching and learning resources from low/no cost teaching materials on which
they have been mentored and coached to use when teaching using learner
centred methods at pre-service in 13 TTCs and at in-service in targeted primary
school. Last year VSO constructed and equipped 13 Teacher resource centres in
all 13 TTCs of Muhanga, Gacuba, Kirambo, Byumba, Bicumbi, Cyahinda, Matimba,
Mbuga, Muramba, Mururu, Rubengera, Save and Zaza. It is from this
learning that VSO has built Teacher Resource Centers in 8 target primary
schools.
