The Centre for Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine (CEVM) at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science aims to undertake research directly relevant to clinical practice. Evidence-based veterinary medicine is the integration of veterinary research with clinical practice, which aims to improve clinical decision-making at the level of the individual patient.

The aim of the CEVM is to increase awareness and promote the use of evidence-based principles within the veterinary profession. Our main objectives are:
• Undertake practice based research relevant to clinical practice
• Develop methods for the synthesis and dissemination of veterinary evidence
• Develop methods for teaching the principles of evidence-based veterinary medicine to undergraduates and post graduates
• To understand the decision making process in veterinary practice

The CEVM have developed methods of searching, and synthesising veterinary evidence in a format that can be used at the patient-side. The successful candidate for this post will be required to develop these methods further and work with the profession to establish effective methods for disseminating evidence.

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in veterinary medicine and science and an MSc in veterinary medicine, epidemiology, or associated discipline. A PhD in veterinary science, epidemiology or a related subject is desirable. An understanding of veterinary practice is essential and experience in reviewing veterinary literature is also a requirement. Candidates should be motivated and independent, but also team-orientated.

This full-time post is offered on a fixed-term basis for a period of 24 months.
