applications for the post of an Environmental
Education Officer on 2 years contract basis. The officer will
be stationed in Gaborone.

JOB
DESCRIPTION
- Research
and develop educational programs and resources for schools, community
groups or visitors to sites of special environmental interest; - Promote
educational programs and resources to the target audience through
leaflets, newsletters, websites, and in some cases, social media; - Liaise
with schools, businesses, voluntary/ community groups and other local
organisations - Give
talks in schools and to community groups on environmental issues; - Organize
events and activities to raise awareness on environmental issues; - Evaluate
the effectiveness of educational programs and write reports for submission
to the coordinator - Prepare
and distribute publications (IEC materials) and exhibit at stakeholder
events like the WED, WWD, etc. - Organizing
school visits - Undertake
inspections of waste oil management facilities in the custodian of Tshole
Trust and report on status.
QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum
of undergraduate University Degree in Environmental Science, Geography or
related qualifications - Minimum
experience of 3 years in teaching, NGO/CBOs work environment.
KEY
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability
to work under minimum supervision - Familiar
with environmental conservation - Ability
to make clear and precise presentations in both English and Setswana - Good
computer skills especially Microsoft office, - Knowledge
on using Photoshop/illustrator will be an added advantage. - Clean
driver’s license (Good Driving Skill) - Commitment
to environmental conservation - Good
interpersonal relationship - Working
experience in an NGO will be an added advantage
