Triage

Triage is the process of
rapidly screening sick children soon before they get to the hospital in order
to identify;
1.      Those with emergency sign,
who require immediate emergency treatment.
2.      Those who priority sign
should be given priority while waiting in the queue so that they can be
assessed and treated without delay.

3.      Non-urgent case who have
neither emergency or priority sign.
Triage tag is divided into four (4)
Black- Expectant (PAM medication only until
death)
Red-Immediate (life-threatening injuries)
Yellow-Delayed (non-life threatening injuries)
Green-Minimal (Minor injuries)
You can assess your patient through the
following ways:
 Observe
·        
Airway management
·        
Breathing
·        
Circulation
·        
Drugs
It is important to start
with resuscitation and stabilization of patient before investigation and
specific treatment (Hadjiloizou and Bourgeosis, 2007)
