Job Description
Length of commitment: 6 months with possible renewal, 3 month probation period to start.
Report to: Medical Director
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm and some Saturdays as directed by the management
Job Location: Ziah Town, Konobo District, Grand Gedeh County, Liberia
Overall Job Purpose: Provide clinical mentorship to health care staff at Konobo Health Center.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• General Responsibilities
1. To report directly to the Medical Director and to complete monthly mentoring reports as summaries of their activities for evaluation
2. To provide technical assistance in the organization and implementation of outreach services and mobile clinics by Konobo District Health Facilities
3. To perform clinical and supervision duties at Konobo Health Center
4. To travel to Konobo district health facilities as they develop for visits lasting 2-3 days each
5. To coordinate closely with the County Supervisors Officer, the TH Medical Director and the logistician to arrange logistics and to schedule health facilities supervision visits
6. To work closely on monthly basis with the TH Clinical Technical Advisory Team and the Medical Director to improve the mentoring skills and knowledge of IMNCI, IMAI, HIV and TB care
7. To attend monthly supervision meetings with other supervisors and to share mentoring experiences for program improvement
8. To attend regular coordination meetings with supervisors, OICs, the TH Medical Director and the DHO, to discuss quality improvement issues at health facilities
• • Specific Responsibilities
1. To observe the provision of care by nurses/nurse aides at the health facilities in the under 5, adult acute care, HIV/TB Clinics and in-patients
2. To complete case management observation forms based on observed health provider-patient interactions
3. To provide direct feedback to the health service provider and recommendations on how to improve their assessment, diagnosis, and management of the patient according to the IMCI, IMAI, HIV/TB guidelines
4. To review retrospectively the registers in above mentioned clinics and recording forms (Case Recording Forms, Charts etc.) in order to assess routine (non-observed) practice and documentation procedures
5. To complete a facility checklist identifying systems issues related to the IMCI, IMAI, ID clinic (HIV/TB), and to notify the OICs and other appropriate operations teams who can respond to issues
6. To lead teaching sessions on relevant clinical topics and/or procedures, physical exam skills, etc in above mentioned areas.
7. To facilitate group discussions on standardized case scenarios at the health facilities
8. To work closely with the Konobo health facilities and Tiyatien Health M&E Teams to ensure that clinical data collected on site visits are used to inform direct quality improvement efforts for under 5, acute adult and ID care at health facilities.
9. Perform other duties as requested by FHW Director, Medical Director & the management.
10. Adhere to the organization’s financial, behavior, and ethics policies.
Job Requirements
1. Physician Assistant (preferred) or Registered Nurse
1. At least two year experience working in health care delivery and in managing field teams.
2. At least 1 year experience in supervising or mentoring health workers
3. Extensive knowledge of standard clinical protocols, especially for IMNCI, Acute Adult Care, Mental Health, HIV and TB and malnutrition
4. Must have experience of training and workshop facilitation in a multicultural setting.
5. Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of MS Office Programs including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and be internet literate.
