not for profit organization focusing on the equal and sustainable development
of the rural communities of Msitu wa Tembo and Londoto, located outside the
town of Moshi at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Description

For more than two
years now, TATU Project ha

s been working with a women’s group in different
ways. Since their capital is limited but their will and vision had been
demonstrated, we developed our Economic Empowerment Program, W.E. Thrive, in
order to provide them with more capital and knowledge, and to accelerate the
group’s financial and business growth.

A whole micro-credit
system has been designed together with the women of the group, and its
implementation is planned to start in the second quarter of 2016. Two
businesses of the group are underway – a bicycle rental business, with a spares
shop to come, and a wholesale shop. Several entrepreneurial trainings are
scheduled, facilitating these group businesses’ planning and their individual
business’, plus guaranteeing the proper investment of the micro-loans.

Job
Description

We are in need of a
Program Manager to work closely with the women, in partnership with our
international volunteers, to help support setting up successful businesses
returns as much as social values and help secure a high rate of micro-loan
paybacks.

The position may
involve:

– Develop and manage
the W.E. Thrive economic empowerment program

– Identify and
implement needed support/training throughout the phases of the projects

– Mentor and
facilitate the Micro-Lending Panel (MLP)

– Coordinate MLP and
business committees in loan negotiation

– Coordinate and
supervise trainings for individual and group businesses

– Follow-up and
consultation of individual and group businesses (currently bike and wholesale
shops)

– Ensure smooth
communications between TATU and the women

– Involvement in
maintaining donor relationships

– Conduct Monitoring
and Evaluation data collection

– Write reports

– Facilitate and
translate seminars and activities, as needed

– Program budget
adjustments

– Take part in
fundraising efforts

Qualifications

The person recruited
for this role is expected to have at least two the following:

  • University
    Diploma and/or professional experience in at least one of the following
    fields:

– Project management

– Business

– Finance (micro
finance is a plus)

– International
Relations / Development Studies

  • Collaboration
    with international organizations is a plus
  • Internships
    or volunteer experience with non profits is a plus
  • Any experience
    working with women’s groups is a plus

The candidate should
be computer literate as well as proficient in Swahili and English in reading
and writing.

We are looking for
someone open-minded who is comfortable with and enjoys cultural differences within
his/her working environment.

Conditions

– 1 year contract
with expectation of renewal based on performance

– First three months
are on a probationary period

– Salary from
400,000-450,000 TZS per month

– 2 performance
based bonuses per year

– 60% Health
insurance compensation

– Internet stipend

– Transportation to
and from the field

– Mandatory taxes
and pension compensation
