Roles and Responsibilities:
The Forestry Technician will be responsible with the implementation of Company Forestation Programs including:
1. REFORESTATION
Implement reforestation (forest renewal), including: Nursery and silviculture operations, Site preparation, Seeding and tree planting programs, together with Seed collection and tree improvement.
2. TREE NURSERY AND FIELD MANAGEMENT
• Manage nursery and fields to ensure that seedlings and trees are growing properly.
Monitor tree nursery and out planting process to ensure the project attains its goal.
3. TRAINING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SEASONAL ACTIVITIES
Train farmers and public in general on appreciation of Good Agricultural Practices and reforestation in particular.
4. GENERAL SERVICES
Provide general services including diagnosis of problems in tree nursery and the woodlots;
Supervision of labor, seedlings and equipment
Reporting
The job incumbent will be directly reporting to Forestry Coordinator with regular communication with other colleagues throughout the company especially with the agronomy team
Requirements:
Qualifications and experience
Tree Technician training Certificate/Diploma in Forestry /agro forestry related fields
1 to 3 years Agro Forestry Experience in Forestry or Natural Resources Management Background Good computer skills in a windows environment, particularly with MS excel, Word and Power point
