For the support of its new projects which focuses on the physical rehabilitation of swamps’ irrigation systems in Lofa and Nimba Counties, SDC offers the following
Job Description:
•Manages and leads the Construction Unit of the project
•Conducts feasibility studies for the rehabilitation of irrigation schemes and other related construction activities (weirs and dams, small bridges, road improvements, fish ponds, domestic water supplies)
•Prepares designs and lay-outs, statically and hydraulic calculations as well as cost estimates for above activities
•Prepares bills of quantities for the tendering of work components to local contractors, evaluates offers submitted by contractors
•Elaborates standard designs and costs per unit based on best practices
•Establishes contacts and coordinates with line agencies and beneficiaries
•Prepares and conducts various trainings, and contributes to capacity building
•Provides technical support to partner organizations
•Regularly controls overall work progress and assures cost controls
Job Requirement:
Specific Qualifications:
•Master or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent background
•Minimum 5 years of work experience in rural construction works and hydraulic engineering with practical knowhow in construction
•Very good capacities in designing and conducting trainings for technical staff of partner agencies, qualified construction workers and farmers
General qualifications for all job offers:
•Willingness to travel frequently to construction sites and to walk to remote sites with no road access, including overnight stays in remote locations if required

•Willingness to promote team work and to share information and knowhow with all involved stakeholders
•Good writing and communications skills in English
•Good computer skills
•Non-Liberian must have the required work and/or residency permits
