Study Setting and Sampling Techniques

The study plan or setting was based on
finding the health implication of global warming on inhabitants and environment
of Erhoike community. The community has an estimated population of 2,642, but a
targeted population for this study was 1,400 comprising adults 18 years and
above in order to get accurate and meaningful response. For accurate
information to be achieved a sample size of one hundred and forty (140)
respondents was used for the study and was draw using stratified and simple
random sampling techniques Erhoike was sub-divided into four quarters based on
the four (4) boundaries which are; Imodje community quarters (east), Kokori
community quarters (west), Erhobaro community quarters (north) and Eranaka
community quarter (south).

The stratified random sampling
technique (balloting without replacement) was used to select 35 persons from
each stratum to make up the sample size of 140 respondents in doing this, the
researcher collected the names of all the people in the area that participated
in the exercise, selected “yes or ”no” was written in a piece of paper folded
and drop in a container shuffled and the papers was picked one after the other.
People that pick“ yes “ were selected until the number of respondents is
complete. The exercise of both male and female not less than 18 years of age
for equal representation of the sampled population in order to get a reasonable
and factual response
