It was a moment of blessing at Christ The King Cathedral, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, as St. Agnes Society celebrated its Golden Jubilee Anniversary in a Thanksgiving Mass.
Speaking at the event, The Speaker Akwa Ibom State House Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey admonished Christians to remain steadfast and committed in sharing God’s abundance blessings with one another.
The Speaker who was the Special Guest of Honour at the Golden Jubilee Anniversary Celebration was represented by his Chief Protocol Officer, Hon. Desmond Etim.
Rt. Hon. Bassey admonished St. Agnes Society to stay in peace and harmony and to also use the medium to spread the word of God in order to win souls to the kingdom of Christ.
He expressed his joy on Mrs. Agnes Dominic Akpan as the first President of St. Agnes Society in Christ the King Cathedral, saying that he is confident on her ability to deliver in any given responsibility in the vineyard of Christ.
The event featured Presentation of Award to members who have made sterling achievements, Unveiling and blessing of the anniversary Cake by the Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Ephraim Asanausung, who was represented by Rv. Fr. Edidiong Ekefre, as well as cultural display.
Present at the event were Prof. Patrick Akpan, Mr. Ubon Utuk KSM, Lady Beatrice Archibong KSJI(JP) among others.
However, St. Agnes Society is one of the women venerated in the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy of Saints. One of the most honoured names among the Saints of the Church is that of Saint Agnes. St. Agnes Society was form in Christ the King Cathedral Parish, Uyo in 1969.
