We are an off-grid community in rural New Brunswick who steward 120+
acres of beautiful land in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains.
We are a group of individuals and families living on personal lots
within a greater plot of land. Much of the land is designated communal
wild space and communal agricultural space. We practise permaculture
and work to protect the land. We have been working to create a
functioning sustainable (or better) community and would love to have
some extra help and company around this year.

Since we are a varied group there are many projects and types of
labour to help out with. There is a lot of land work to be done with
gardens and the orchard. There are young ones to be cared for and
engaged with ranging from newborn to 11 years old. There are animals
(mainly chickens and pets right now) to look after. There are herbs
and foods to be harvested and preserved. There are homes and other
building projects underway and starting. There are also other
earthworks happening and lots of experimentation and space to do more.
We of course have regular homesteading chores like firewood and water
and the like to keep us busy too. 😉

There is a lot of dreaming happening out here and we’d love to have
some extra hands in turning these dreams into reality!!! 🙂

Beyond the experience itself, in return for the help you provide, we
are able to offer a place to stay (several options for this to choose
from) and some food. We will be unable to meet ALL food needs but can
provide some meals and access to food grown on the land. We also do
semiregular trips into the grocery stores. There is amazing tasting
well water. Lovely streams for cooling off in flow through the land.
There is a community center with Internet and it also houses our
Waldorf based art and nature school which runs kids camps during the
summer break and a preschool and grades program Sept – June.

Our community is still in the forming stages and lots are still
available. We require that interested parties live within the area for
a year before accessing the no cost land that is available.
Volunteering can be a great way to get at least a portion of that year
completed in a win-win kind of way. 🙂
