Wherever you go in the world, private interests are taking over public
resources, such as air, land and water. In British Columbia, Dogwood
Initiative is pioneering a model to put control back in the hands of
the public by bringing together citizens of all backgrounds to reclaim
decision-making power over their natural resources.
Dogwood’s model combines large-scale citizen engagement and
recognition of aboriginal land rights with a non-partisan political
approach, both of which are underscored by a commitment to continual
improvement through sophisticated testing and analytics.
We’re currently looking for a Provincial Organizer to play a lead role
in laying the groundwork and building the capacity for launching a
Citizen’s Initiative asking a crucial question: Do we want crude oil
pipelines across our rivers and the hundreds of supertankers they
would bring to our coast? Dogwood’s long-standing campaign seeks to
protect B.C.’s salmon rivers and coast from the threat of expanded oil
pipelines, tanker traffic and spills. From an initial living room
presentation to fifteen people, the campaign has expanded to include
over 215,000 supporters across Canada. The campaign’s formal goal is
to halt the expansion of crude oil tanker traffic on B.C.’s coast.
With our supporters, partners and allies we’ve secured a series of
victories towards that goal and are looking for a passionate, skilled
and dedicated individual to play a key role in the next important
phase of the campaign.
