Terms of Reference: Fundraising Intern (London-based)
04/12-09/12 (with likely extension)
Sound Foundation is offering an exciting opportunity to become part of a diverse and dynamic team working in music industry and education.
Sound Foundation is a social enterprise whose core value is a belief in the power of music to foster happy, intelligent, motivated and disciplined individuals. Sound Foundation has two principal objectives: firstly to
enhance the provision of music education where it benefits most, and secondly to create a platform for talented and aspiring young artists to pursue a career in music.
Since January 2011 Sound Foundation’s pilot projects have been established in Kampala, Uganda. We are currently delivering our Music Education Programme in two schools. The project began in Namugongo Parents’ Primary school, to the north east of the city, and has since expanded to the Nursery school and Saturday class for children sponsored by Uganda Hands for Hope, a charitable organisation based in the informal settlement in Namuwongo in central Kampala. In total this sees 150 children receiving lessons in recorder, percussion and singing, as well as instruction in basic music theory and composition.
Our Music Industry Programme is also operating in Kampala. We have already targeted one musician who we are working to promote. Since January we have concentrated on building our industry network with key organisations in Kampala in order to provide increased performance and recording opportunities for potential Sound Foundation artists. This year we are focusing on setting up live music events and collaborative projects between both established and aspiring artists.
Sound Foundation is registered as a CLG (Company Limited by Guarantee) in Uganda. It is also a fully registered company in the UK. Sound Foundation is preparing to apply for charitable status in the UK.
As we continue to expand and establish ourselves as a go-to music organisation we are looking for a motivated and creative intern to take charge of our fundraising in the UK. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved with a grassroots organisation in a crucial stage of development.
