ion Officer for an anticipated USAID-funded rural
sanitation project in Rwanda. The objectives of the project include working
with the Government of Rwanda to improve access to, and encourage correct and
consistent use of, household sanitation and hygiene facilities in order to
decrease childhood stunting. The project will utilize private-sector-driven
household sanitation and hygiene interventions and incorporate capacity building
at the district and national levels.
The
position includes working with the Government of Rwanda to ensure integration
of gender into all aspects of program implementation, including performance
monitoring and M&E, behavior change communication, private sector
engagement, and sanitation governance. The position will support the
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor in monitoring gender indicators and
the impact of gender integration in the program.

- The
Gender Specialist must have a University Degree in a relevant discipline
(International Development, Gender Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation,
etc.). - He
or she must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience, the greater
portion of which must have been in carrying out gender integration in
institutions, preferably in a development context. - The
Candidate should have an understanding of rural sanitation and its
practical application and have experience with facilitating gender
integration, providing gender training, conducing gender analysis and
developing gender sensitive indicators. - Fluency
in English is a prerequisite; working knowledge of French is an asset.
