ACCOUNTABILITIES &
AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE
Process plant superintendent has the following authorities and
accountabilities:
• Issue of and compliance with PPE requirements. Control of proper use of PPE
for process plant employees.
• Safety, Health and Environmental risk management for each operational task to
be undertaken.
• Report all spills of oil as they can interfere with gold recovery
processes
and ensuring safe and proper tools and equipment storage.
• Controlling and advising on ROM pad management. liaise on a daily basis with
Technical Services Department to ensure an optimum blended ore are been
delivered to the plant as per mining plan, crushing and monitoring circuit
performance and setting to ensure required product size is achieved.
• Ensures that the Process department follows the Shanta standard metallurgical
accounting procedures and guidelines and managing metallurgical laboratory.
• Monitoring of cyanide discharge to TSF to ensure ICMI compliance. Planning
and conducting relevant cyanide detox test work for suggesting possible ways to
achieve IMCI compliance.
• Water Treatment and quality checks to ensure right quality of water is
produced, equipment operation and maintenance for smooth and efficient
operation.
• General cost awareness and drive to reduce costs; proper equipment
utilization, specify reagents and balls usage for operational staff, in
accordance with ore type, and specifying optimum frequencies for carbon
regeneration and acid wash without compromising efficiencies.
• Identifying developmental needs and training of plant operators to improve
skilled knowledge and preparing programs for operators with assistance from
Training Officer and Shift Superintendent.
• Contribution to the operators training modules on technical side, e.g.
control of crushing and mill operating parameters and sampling.
REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE
Qualification:
• BSc. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing or equivalent
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of working experience in the Gold Process.
• Experience of gold processing plant operations; specifically crushing
circuits, mills, CIL and preferably CIP, elution, electro winning, smelting and
TSF.
• Minimum 5 years of mineral processing experience overall with at least 2
years’ experience in a Supervisory capacity
• Excellent supervisory skills and experience
Must have relevant knowledge of:
• Gold plant treatment
• Milling and CIL
• People management and development
• Mets accounting
• Gold Room and Elution plant operations
• TSF operations
