Purpose
of the position
World
Vision Tanzania is one of the east African countries which is affected by
climate change and experiencing natural disasters such as drought and/or flood
in the various parts of country. We are looking for a suitable candidate from
Tanzania nationals for the position of Senior Program Officer HEA (Humanitarian
& Emergencies Affairs).
The
major job and role of the position is to work on rapid risk assessment, work
closely with community level disaster risk reduction, preparedness and
immediate response. The position also needs to work closely with Government
structure and emergency response plan. The knowledge and understanding of
emergency relief to recovery and development is essential.
Major
Responsibilities;
·        
Facilitate
integration of emergency response and disaster mitigation activities in
development programs and implementation as per humanitarian Standards
·        
Facilitate
projects and programs to have updated
·        
Disaster
Preparedness
·        
Plans
at community and national level
·        
Attend
meetings and trainings and build staff capacity in Emergency Response Disaster
Mitigation (ERDM) and support field staff in fostering network with Government,
donors and other partners.
·        
Provide
technical support to staff in the relief, recovery to development and develop
design, prepare concept papers, proposals, Annual Operational Plans.
·        
Review
and provide input to project/program plans and budgets to ensure compliance
with WVT standards/guidelines
·        
Carry
out timely review and submission of HEA reports to donors
·        
Analyze
project/program goals accomplishment Vs budget utilization of HEA
projects/programs
·        
Provide
supportive monitoring on integration and implementation of HEA program/project
activities
Minimum
Qualification required:
Bachelors
Degree in Economic Development, Sociology, and Agriculture
Minimum
of 3 years’ Experience in related field, Experience in working with donor funds
Technical
Skills & Abilities:
  • Computer
    literate to use MS Office (MS word, MS Excel, MS Power point access and
    internet
  • Demonstrated
    ability in supervision
  • Working
    knowledge of disaster management, emergency response preparedness and
    disaster risk reduction
  • Good
    planning and organizational skills
  • Ability
    to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and
    donors
