Background
Over the past twenty years, the increased focus on psychosocial needs and responses in the aftermath of crisis has lead to the development of many innovative and novel psychosocial interventions. The Child Resilience Approach is developed by Save the Children in cooperation with Red Cross Red Crescent
societies for children in crisis/post crisis situations as a step towards coping and strengthening the protective environment of children and their families.

Child Resilience is a systematic and structured approach to dealing with psychosocial and child protection issues and enhancing positive coping mechanisms as well as providing tools for children, teachers and caregivers for better child protection. The programme addresses child protection issues through linkages to the child protection systems, including such as other service providers, reporting pathways, and preventive measures.

Save the Children Denmark seeks to strengthen its Child Resilience programme in its work for and with children. To contribute to this goal we are strengthening our capacity in the regions to conduct trainings, enhancing capacity among civil society and ensuring the quality, coordination, innovation and future application of the programme in the regions. For this purpose we are looking for qualified applicants for 2-year positions as Regional Child Resilience Advisor.

The current positions
The advisors will be responsible for the coordination, linkages, development and innovation of the child resilience programme in the regions. The advisors will, in close coordination with the relevant stakeholders and in alignment with the SC CPI ( Child Protection Initiative), regional child protection strategies and SC emergency responses , work to implement and further develop the SCD Child Resilience priority for children in emergencies and post conflict.

Responsibilities
Description of tasks
• Liaise and coordinate with major stakeholders in SC, with special focus on the regional context
• In close cooperation with SCD head office, take forward the SCD international child protection strategy at regional level.
• Participate in relevant emergency responses in the region providing advise on Child Protection
• Be available for emergency deployment through the SCI Global Roster (CP Adviser or Manager)
• In coordination with SCD HO ,develop and implement the strategic plan for SCD contribution to Child protection in emergencies in the region
• Liaise and communicate with relevant donors and other strategic key stakeholders in the region
• Set up and carry out training of Child Resilience Master Trainers and Mentors/Monitors.
• Support other psychosocial/child protection activities by SC in the region, that are relevant to the implementation of Child resilience in the region
• Provide presentations and trainings for SC staff, partners and other stakeholders
• Assist with technical support such as assessments, trainings, programme design, monitoring systems, supervision and sparring as well as lessons learnt and evaluations to specific country programmes
• Ensure the quality and consistency of the lessons learnt and its dissemination regionally and globally with the purpose of feeding into the global development of child protection and psychosocial tools.
• Provide program support and technical assistance (TA) – liaise with and coordinate with in-country thematic advisers and thematic program managers as well as head offices to support implementation and development of SCD funded Child Resilience projects/programs, including support to proposal development and documentation of results.

The Advisor will be part of the Child Protection and Child Survival Section in SCD and will refer to the head of section. In addition the Advisor will work in close cooperation with the Humanitarian Section.

Qualifications, Competencies and Experiences Required:
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years experience from an international aid organisation in a position ensuring program effectiveness, including overseeing program implementation, monitoring and evaluation and maintaining positive relationship with partner organisations and external agencies. Including experience from working in an emergency context.
• Demonstrated communication and networking skills, in English
• Demonstrated organizational and mentoring skills, including the ability to both lead and be a member of a team, and of delivering significant results
• Relevant Master Degree in political science, social science, international relations or similar. University degree with combined professional experience could be considered as a substitute to the Master degree.
• Strong programmatic and analytic skills. Demonstrated experience of research, financial planning, financial management and IT skills.
• Demonstrated technical and strategic knowledge and experience in child protection in emergencies
• Demonstrated technical knowledge on psychosocial approaches and child protection in emergencies.
• Excellent writing, , facilitation, capacity building and skills. Strong ability to mobilise, build partnerships, solve problems, guide and motivate people toward the achievement of agreed goals The candidate should possess the following personal qualities and competencies

• A full appreciation of the value of co-operation and team work
• Personal maturity and social competence skills
• Ability to prioritize well especially when working under pressure
