Sample Analysis

The tile method of ABO blood grouping was used for
analysing the sample.
Principle
ABO blood grouping anti-sera react with unknown red
cell antigen to form agglutination (Adeoye, 2007).

Procedure
·
A white tile was cleaned with
ordinary cotton wool and placed on the work bench/table.
·
A drop of blood was placed on
four rows.
·
A drop of (equal volume)
commercial anti-sera was added to the whole blood as follow; first row
anti-sera A, second row anti-sera B, third row anti-sera AB and fourth row
anti-sera O.
·
The blood and anti-sera were
mixed together using a separate applicator stick. For each row the tile was
rocked gently and observed macroscopically fro agglutination within 5 minutes
