JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Responsible for overseeing and managing current and future programming with the Health Sector Manager, including written proposals, budgets and implementation plans for new projects/extensions of projects in the health field
• Oversee project staff in health program to ensure proper management by project managers and field coordinators
• Lead program staff in monitoring and evaluation; ensure programs meet donor goals and guidelines, while working to effect positive change in the various communities
• Ensure the field-level execution of the programs against all set objectives and targets within the agreed budgets and timeframes
• Build capacity of national program staff in all relevant areas including, but not limited to, project/program planning, computer skills, monitoring/evaluation, staff management, etc.
• Liaise with government and national partners in relevant programmatic areas, ensuring proper communication and reporting takes place and protocols are followed
• Assist in planning of long term vision and research appropriate areas for program expansion
• Assist in fundraising, including project promotion, donor liaising, proposal writing, etc. • Responsible for the enforcement of reporting procedures and formats, and for the preparation of reports for management and donors
• Manage multiple project budgets
• Liaise with support departments to ensure logistical and financial needs are met; plan and work with support staff for long term budgeting and procurement needs
• Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will oversee, manage and coordinate approximately 20 staff in various health projects.
JOB REQUIREMENT:
• Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in medical, nursing, or other health-related field; or one to two years of related experience and/or training in health programming in a developing country; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have prior experience in either community health or HIV prevention
• Ability and willingness to travel for weeks at a time to austere locations
• Team player with a positive, flexible attitude
• Above average verbal and email communication skills • Demonstrable Word and Excel experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations and Requests for Assistance (RFA). Will have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, customers, funders and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Has the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Has the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Will be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Has the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and information in mathematical or diagram form and work with several abstract and concrete variables.
