You
don’t need any prior experience either in dance or in teaching. You DO need:

- a
reasonable level of physical fitness and good general health;
- a
warm, helpful, calm, patient personality;
- the
desire to mentor and encourage adults of all ages with varying
levels of aptitude and from varying walks of life;
- the
ability to be encouraging and approachable while maintaining a degree of
formality and professional distance;
- the
ability to commit to a minimum of one year’s employment.
The
selection process will involve some preliminary dance training, after which
you’ll be mentored through the following training stages to prepare for
teaching students:

- an
initial period of intensive dance training (no prior dance
experience required);
- thorough
training in the principles and processes of teaching, in particular
relating to personal coaching of adult students;
- how
to design personalised learning plans to meet short and long term
goals of individual students;
- how
to maximise long term retention of students.
During
the first 8 weeks of your traineeship you’ll be employed permanent part time
(at no less than 50% of full-time), moving to permanent full-time employment
from then on.

Hours: Mon-Thu 1:00pm to 9:30pm, Fri 3:00pm to 10:00pm
River City Ballroom remunerates according to the Fitness Industry Award, with
bonuses for good performance.
