The opportunity
We are looking for an Emergency Management Officer, based at our iron ore
operation, Tom Price, to provide leadership support to the Emergency Response
Teams (ERTs) for the provision of First Aid and Emergency Management.
Located in the Central Pilbara, west of Karijini National Park, Tom Price is
Rio Tinto’s original Pilbara mine, currently employing about 950 people mainly
on residential rosters. Tom Price is one of the most attractive towns in the
Pilbara with a high school, hospital and a high standard of recreational
facilities.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for a self-motivated and highly ambitious
individual. Residentially based in Tom Price (3 days on, 3 nights on and 6 days
off roster) and reporting to the Emergency Management Advisor, you will
be: 

  • Providing emergency services at the mine
    site                         
  • Coordinating and supporting emergency response
    and security for the site operations in line with the statutory
    requirements and company policies
  • Acting as the ERT leader and coordination
    point during emergency incidents along with providing training to the ERT
    members
  • Managing and undertaking alcohol and other
    drug testing in accordance with the Rio Tinto Alcohol and Other Drugs
    policy and procedures
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have: 
  • A HLT41007 – Certificate IV in Pre Hospital
    Care (Ambulance)
  • A PUAFIR207B – Operate breathing apparatus
    open circuit
  • A PUASAR002A – Undertake road accident rescue
  • A PUASAR005A – Undertake confined space rescue
  • Experience in emergency response
  • A Heavy Rigid licence 
A RII30709 Certificate III in Mine Emergency
Response & Rescue, PUAOPE001A Supervise response or PUAOPE004A Conduct
briefings/debriefings will be highly regarded.
