The primary objective of the Advisor: Maternal and Child Health Programs position is to provide the organization’s efforts in Tanzania with the technical assistance and project management support to facilitate and implement maternal and child health (MCH)-related program development, monitoring and evaluation, analysis and assessment of program and policy implications. This position will also assist with other implementation science and program evaluation tasks as identified by the Associate Director of Programs and the Country Director to the extent that time is available respective to the primary position objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide mentorship and support to strengthen efforts to build the capacity of the staff and local governmental and non-governmental partners on activities related to sustainable MCH-related program development, monitoring and evaluation, analysis and assessment of program and policy implications.
• Build the capacity of staff to work in collaboration with other Divisions (i.e., the Division of Reproductive Health), and United States based non-governmental funders (i.e., Bloomberg Philanthropies) and World Lung Foundation.
• Strengthen efforts staff on activities related to other GHI- and PEPFAR-related implementation science and program evaluation tasks, providing appropriate linkages to other available PEPFAR resources for technical assistance in implementation of MCH activities.
• Monitor work done by staff and project partners and report updates to immediate supervisor, Associate Director for Programs and/or Country Director.
• Manage project schedules and implement timelines.
• Communicate regularly with relevant partners donors via phone, email, in-person meetings and/or presentations.
• Incorporate feedback and guidance provided by the organization and funding partners.
• Contractor will be expected to travel 30% of their time in Tanzania providing Technical Assistance to various sites.
• Write and submit quarterly narratives.
Key Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited university with a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or closely related field of study.
• At least three years of experience, preferably in an international setting, with progressive responsibility in program development, monitoring and evaluation, analysis, and assessment of program and policy implications.
• At least three years of experience working with MCH and/or PEPFAR programs is desirable.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Level IV English proficiency required.
• Willingness and ability to effectively communicate in English (Speaking, Writing, and Reading) on a daily basis with various groups.
• Level I Kiswahili proficiency (preferred).
• Willingness and ability to work full-time and to be located in Tanzania strongly preferred.
